How it will work
notch.fm and TIDAL
TIDAL support is being built and is not connected yet. notch.fm is an independent app: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by TIDAL, and it is not made or reviewed by them. This page is what the support will do when it ships, written down now so it can be held to.

Why you can start now anyway#
Your scores, your five tag axes, your comments, your playlists and every chart built on them are notch.fm’s own data. They are not stored in a music service and they do not come from one.
So rating a library now is not work you will repeat. The day TIDAL support ships it connects to what you have already built - there is nothing to migrate, nothing to re-rate, and nothing that only counts once a service is attached.
If you want to be told when it is ready, the home page takes an address for exactly that, and it is used for nothing else.
What it will read#
The same principle the rest of the app is held to: only what it uses, and only where it maps to something on screen.
- Your collection
- The tracks, albums and playlists you have saved, so there is something to rate without typing any of it in.
- Track and album details
- Title, artist, album, year, length and cover art, so a song looks like itself while you score it.
- What is playing now
- So a score lands on the right song, and a comment can be pinned to a moment in it.
What it will write, and only when you press something#
- Saving a favourite, when you press the heart.
- Creating a playlist, when you build one from your ratings and choose to push it across.
No background writing of any kind, and a score is never written into TIDAL - it is notch.fm’s, and there is nowhere in a music service to put it.
Playback will not be a write either. Pressing play will start the song on your own account, through TIDAL’s own player running in your browser, and nothing will be stored in your collection by it.
What it will never do#
- Host or sell music. A notch.fm subscription buys notch.fm features. It is not a music licence and it does not include a TIDAL subscription.
- Mix it with another service. You connect one music service at a time, and no screen in this app puts one service’s catalogue beside another’s.
- Speak for TIDAL in any way. Nothing in this app is provided, reviewed or endorsed by them, and this page is not an announcement on their behalf.
- Keep access you revoked. Disconnecting will be one button in Settings, effective immediately, exactly as it is for every other service.
TIDAL itself#
A TIDAL subscription is bought from TIDAL, never from notch.fm. You can read about it at TIDAL.
TIDAL is a trademark of its owner. notch.fm is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by TIDAL.
